The Ako_Torro Template: Review

If you were into the Joomla! or Mambo template exploration, I believe you already had stumbled the ako_templates in one way or another. During my own Joomla! 1.5 templates exploration over the internet, scouring every known websites, once again, I stumbled into one of those ako_templates which is called ako_torro. You can find this template at http://www.mamboportal.com/ which is active as of today (May 27, 2007) As you can see, the template looks awesome. See the screenshot below.

There is no question how wonderful the look and feel of this template- a truly work of art. Another thing to be thankful is the goodwill of the designer because I was not even required to register before downloading the template. This template is an open for all download. However, for some reason I could not install the ako_torro to my Joomla! Beta 2 Nightly live test site.
The screenshot below is the extracted zip from the downloaded file named akotorro_joomla15_unzipfirst.zip file.

extracted zipped file

I am getting this error.
Error
Copy failed
JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /xxxx/xxxxx/public_html/myjoomla15/tmp/install_4659f1b5400ff
/akotorro/css/index.html to/xxxx/xxxx/public_html
/myjoomla15/templates/akotorro/css/index.html

Well, what can I say? If it didn’t work then it didn’t work, time to move on to the next one. That’s precisely what I would do.

I had the same type of failure, when trying to install the Akotorro template, but fixed it by opening up the templateDetails.xml file and changing the backslash in the file paths listing from “\” to “/” and then it would install.

Hope the suggested fix helps somebody else to get a clean install of the Akotorro template.

thanks for the repair comment; that helped a bunch. i wonder if it has to do with international computer standards, or just an xml error?
